review 1: If you would love a good giggle, pick up this short story of Josh of the Damned and prepare for a laugh. This is the second story in the series of short stories about a young man name Josh who works at a Quik Mart that just happens to have a hell portal in its parking lot. Its customers range from zombies looking for a frozen burrito fix (I don't look at frozen burritos quite the same way anymore), lizards after snacks, and the occasional Sasquatch. Oh and did I mention he has a vampire boyfriend? Josh deals with everything that happens with a marvelous sangfroid that is a wonder. It is a very quick read but so full of humor that it leaves you wanting so much more.And don't miss the first story in the series, Pretty Monsters, Josh of the Damned #1. Go, go on, run to ... moreget them. Get a Snickers Bar, and read. And laugh.
review 2: This series is like a serial with tiny snippets about Josh's job coming to life. The plot is very original in its concept but because it is so super short there is little time for world building. I hope that Andrea and Riptide Publishing turn it into a true serial with one snippet coming out each month. Even better would to have them come out more often if possible.I really enjoyed this book and I have to congratulate Andrea for fitting so much into 3,600 words. I believe that its harder to write a quality short story then longer works.The book costs 99c for only 3,600 words but when I stop and think about how much that dollar has to do I find that I am happy to pay the price.
