review 1: I love the story! I was surprised. I thought it was going to be a brooding bad boy book by the way the story started off, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the main character Geoff to be quiet sweet and very giving. Another thing I loved is that Andrew uses actual locations and I really love that! I call them location nuggets and if I have been there, it pulls the reader deeper in to the storyline.
review 2: A saccharine sweet romance with oodles of melodrama.I really wanted to like this story. The premise was good. The characters were quite likeable. But it was just a little much for me.Too much sweetness. Too much melodrama.I do get the appeal of this book though. There's a sort of innocence and purity of love that shines through the story. A belief that... more love will absolutely triumph regardless of the obstacles. It's an appealing thought.I do like my stories sweet, but with just the teeniest bit of grit in it. There's not even a sliver of a sharp edge in this story.The love scenes were exactly that. LOVE. Every time Geoff and Eli had sex, they'd be saying "I love you" over and over and over again. And they are in bed a lot. So that's a lot of "I love you"s.Also, what the heck is with Eli during sex? He vibrated more than the shelf full of Tickle-Me-Elmos that I once activated because it amused me to see the entire shelf shake while a dozen Elmo dolls said in almost unison, "Teeheehee, that tickles!"If you like really sweet, escapist romance, this will be just up your alley. There's a certain charm to the story and a positivity that will put a glow in someone less cynical than me. less
