Tales from Kansas
review 1: This is the story of Jeremy, Petey, Milt, and Nate. Jeremy and Petey's mother died and there is only one surviving relative to live with Uncle Milt. So Jeremy piles his three year old brother into his broken down car and drives to Kansas to live with the uncle. While in Kansas, Jeremy meets Nate and there is a degree of insta-love. The rest of the story is angst, angst and more angst. There is not a lot of substance to this book, and I could not really care about the characters. It became pretty boring. In fact, the story is not very compelling -- reading the book is like trudging through quicksand. You just want to be done with it before you get swallowed up by the angst. That is not a good thing. Andrew Grey has clearly lost his way on this book. I give this book two st... morears.
review 2: I was really looking forward to this book after the first in the series, but it just didn't click with me and I don't know why. There was a lot to like in this book. The MCs were lovely, I particularly liked Jeremy but I didn't really become invested in their relationship, but I was invested in them, if that makes sense. The thing I love about romance novels is the knowledge that when the book is over the MCs are living their HEA but in this case I have a sneaky feeling that they will fall out of love when they finish growing up. Hope I am wrong - see I am invested in them! less
