All four were involved in a crime in the small town where they grew up. Three left town as soon as they could to try to escape their memories and forget, only Ben remained behind. Ben believed his role was to keep watch on the town's haunted house across the street from his boyhood home. But Ben has committed suicide and his three friends return to the small town to attend his funeral. Before they can leave, another young girl goes missing, the daughter of an another high school classmate. Can the three remaining friends face their demons and can the young girl be found alive?
review 2: The main character in this in
... moreventive novel has just been diagnosed with Parkinson's. The description of how it affects his life, his movements, his efforts to make his body do what his brain wants it to is worth the read alone, at least to me, who just had a lifelong close friend diagnosed with Parkinson's. Two close personal friends are now living with this awful scourge. But that is not the only thing going on here. A mystery ensues when one of this close friends hangs himself. This is my introduction to Canadian writer Pyper and so far I am happy to have found him. It is always so much fun to discover a writer I knew nothing about. less

Quick read, good story...but nothing noteworthy. Sort of Stephen King lite.
