review 1: While I enjoyed this series overall I can't seem to get out of my mind the authors offhand reference to hurricane Katrina in her first book and the assumption that the people who did not evacuate the area were victims of society because they were poor. As one who lived it and is from the area and knows firsthand that that is not the whole story and not even close to the truth I take issue with that. A large portion of the people who stayed did so of their own choice and by doing so endangered the lives of countless others who in turn had to go in and rescue them. Choices have consequences and when you live in a soup bowl with a hurricane bearing down on you as massive as Katrina was you can't blame the government for what happens in the aftermath.
review 2:
... moreHorde is one of the best books I have read in a long time, and it perfectly sums up the Enclave series with many surprises. It takes place in the Midwest, near Wisconsin. Throughout the whole book you will be surprised and not bored at any time, there is always something happening in this book. I highly recommend you read this series in general, even if it isn't this book. You will especially like this book if you are a fan of the Hunger Games. less
