review 1: "I believe in miracles," thinks Sirantha toward the end...as she certainly should, considering the huge plot holes, massive coincidences and outright deus ex machina contrivances in this outing. Not that the plot is more than a superficial mise en scene for the torturous love story. Definitely a case of wrong book/wrong reader. There was enough to the series' first episode to make me try another, but the author is focusing on the elements that I found least appealing and expending little visible effort on keeping the action coming or even just giving alien cultures a little dimension. No mas.
review 2: This is a good book. It is different then the other two in the sense that it is not as fast paced but has more political intriguing, which I greatly enjoyed. An... mored along with the first two books in the series the story just keeps building and growing and I am sure it will end it something grand. It is mildly annoying that the book isn't its own story but I still enjoy them. I think Ann Aguirre is a very good writer and it is clear that she loves sci/fi. On top of how good the story is the characters are great as always, especially Jax. The romance between her and March is great and something to behold and very idealistic. But it is not something that would happen in real life, at least I don't think so. I am rather cynical in that sense I guess. It's just hard for me to see people being there for some one, with all the problems they have, else despite how much they love them. Don't get me wrong I like reading about it and I think it is something that people should strive for and it is nice to see, I just don't see it happening in real life. But past that slight thing, which I actually like even if it doesn't come off that way, I did enjoy this book a great deal. less
