review 1: Not exactly a review of the book which I believe is well written and well rounded as true crime can be. My hat goes off to Anne Rule for putting to paper the stories that typically grace the headlines until the next big thing comes along, unfortunately Sad but true. To put a voice to the victims so that they may help others from these fates and perhaps open eyes of others to what is going on in their neighbourhoods and communities might also save some innocent children in the future. My overall thoughts of the crimes depicted in this true crime volume. It is really disturbing the lengths some people will go with no regard for anyone or anything else. Heartbreaking to hear how a woman who gave birth to children could treat them so horrendously and not blink an eye. that in i... moretself is sad enough but when the entire family then sides with the heinous woman and gang up with intent to bully or persuade the actual victims it makes my blood boil. It is that type of action that holds victims back from reporting the many injustices. To bad there is not legal action or fines or something ANYTHING to fight against this kind of mistaken loyalty (I will say to keep this review PG)the world would be a much nicer, safer place if there were. To the victims brave, courageous and strong may they find peace and love in their lives. They are truly heroes amongst us.
review 2: This latest volume of Ann Rule's true crime cases has what appear to be a few older stories (perhaps written several years ago) in addition to some relatively "new" cases. The first one is especially horrifying in that it has to do with a woman who kidnapped infants, at the same time murdering their mothers, probably so she could sell them for adoption on the black market. I know things like this go on, but this story was just so terrible, I had trouble getting my mind around the idea of anyone killing new mothers in order to take their babies. There are stories also of a particularly heinous murder of a wife by her husband, and the story of a murder of a father and stepmother by the father's son and girlfriend. They also murdered other people, one of them not very far at all where I happen to live, in 2011.All of the cases in this book makes a person wonder what in the world can be going through anyone's head before they commit such awful crimes. less
