review 1: Ms. Rule's #16 book is great for showing crimes before cellphones, DNA, and a lot of (now modern) conveniences of forensics and the solving of crimes that people (unfortunately) still do today: rape, murder, arson and the trials that put these criminals away for the duration of their sentences. Some of these crimes are hard to envision in such an "easy-going" point in time: the 1970s. With accompanying photos and crime scene details, you get a "bird's-eye" view at cases that happened in the Washington State and surrounding areas. The only thing that bothered me was the use of pseudonyms for the convicted...what happens if they get out? (Highly unlikely, but you never know).
review 2: I think this is the first Ann Rule book that I have read. I'm not sure why, bu
... moret her writing style seems a bit off to me comparative to other authors in this genre type. Though she is very empathetic to the victims and their families, I can't help but feel that there could be a lot more substance to these stories. The Powell selection in particular was disappointing, very rudimentary in how it was written. Not sure I would bother to read anything written by her again honestly. less

I have read all of Ann's books from the beginning. This one was not as good as previous books.

Not as enjoyable as Ann Rule's other books though it held my attention most of the time.
