review 1: Příběh zralého muže a jeho neutěšeném životě, o jeho minulosti a hlavně zajímavé budoucnosti. Charles obdrží dopis s oznámením, že umřela maminka jeho kamaráda. V tu chvíli zjistí, jaké břímě si nese z minulosti. Chce se s tím vyrovnat, jede navštívit po dlouhých letech kamaráda Alexise a při té příležitosti potká úžasnou ženu - statkářku z donucení, s adoptovanými dětmi. Uvědomí si, jaký život vede a vedle jaké partnerky. Změní vše od základu. Uvědomí si, že takové štěstí nemůže už pustit.
review 2: I liked it, most of all, because it featured quite a few outsiders (possibly a Gavalda trademark?) like I consider myself (then again, who doesn't?), although the contrasts to the "normal word" are a b... moreit painted in strong colors... "Really Happy Endings" occur, but somehow are not annoying, maybe because the suspense of disbelief has already been put into effect by the eccentricity of the important characters. Very good, fairly Dostoyevskian (really!) psychological perspectives and portrayal of all! occurring persons. less
