review 1: Regency, murder, romantic undertones, and 19th century surgery? Sold. This was a well-written mystery set in 1830 in Scotland. First person POV from Kiera Darby's perspective, a widow whose artistic talents were manipulated into illustrating her deceased husband's anatomical studies. As a result, her tarnished reputation makes her a perfect suspect in the murder of a lady at her sister's garden party. Thus, Kiera must prove her innocence by finding the true culprit. Overall, a great read.
review 2: Our dear Lady Darby retreats to her sister's estate following her husband's death, seeking solace in her painting and artwork, retreating from her previous life, when a mystery of murder and intrigue follows her like an unwanted guest to haunt her and dredge up ... moreaspects of her past she hoped to remain uncovered. I am not typically a mystery reader, but this was a very good and intriguing listen/read. less
