review 1: I really enjoyed the first half of his book, about Pythias' relationship with her father, and how she thrived, with his help, as an intelligent girl in a time when women were second class citizens. I was hooked and wanted to know how she would cope without him, but the story went down hill from there. She is rushed from bad situation to bad situation with no real explanation as to how or why she ends up there each time. The ending felt like it didn't really make sense.
review 2: I did not like this book and I was looking forward to reading it. The voice of Pythias, Aristotle's daughter retains the voice of a child, even when she is 16. Her friend is married at 12 or 14, so Pythias should have been schooled in at least how to speak like a lady. Her love of he
... morer dad and his love of she and her brother was a nice change. The fact that Pythias had a choice once her dad died to stay and not go with Nico, seems far-fetched to me. The servants rebelling seems far-fetched and her choice to become a courtesan rather than go to her father's friend seems far-fetched. less

disapointing after her first novel. It did not have the interest of Aristotle's life with Alexander.

I liked the beginning but found the actions of the main character confusing and a bit irritating.
