review 1: It had been too long since I'd read the previous books in this series for me to remember the nuances of the relationships between the characters, but there was enough referencing to remind me of the gist, and reading "the voice" recently helped some, too. Another good book; I like the way Bishop shifts between POVs and brings the personal stories together into a larger one. Looking forward to the next one!
review 2: This is the third novel of the Ephemera series, but I have to wonder if it is the concluding novel. Ephemera is a world that was broken apart to save it from utter destruction. In the aftermath, wizards, bridges, and landscapers put as much of the land together again, but evil still exists and threatens the world. Bishop does a great job creatin... moreg a fascinating world and keeping the plot interesting, but with this last novel, the plot seemed to be bogged down by tying up loose ends, but not tying them too tight. Four different plot points and the characters involved needed to be tied up, and it seemed a bit anticlimactic after awhile, however if she does write another novel based in Ephemera, I will read it. less
