review 1: A rather minor character (and one of my favorites) from the first book gets a bit more depth here and the series really begins to come into its own along with introducing more characters and fleshing out the world. For some reason I still like this character even when he reveals himself to be completely selfish and a real jerk, but that is the beauty of this series, it tackles the tough reality of being human, struggling with that reality, and contemplating the realities that lie beyond.
review 2: The beginning threw me off...it was a bit too slow in action and I wasn't sure how it related to the previous book. It has been several other series since I read the first then this book so characters and story lines are mixed up for me within the fantasy genre. Ho
... morewever, the action picked up when the full size dragon made his appearance and I couldn't put the book down. I had to, however, because there was a hold on it and since I checked it out electronically, it was deleted before I could finish so I had to wait for its return before finishing it. My biggest complaint is that my library system had books 1,2 and 4 available! I initially saw book 4 first and wanted to read it, but after seeing it was a series, I looked for the first book. I didn't check to see that all the books were there...so now I have to track doe nor buy the third book. Oh well. The story did catch my attention so I may break down and purchase it. less
