review 1: 3 e 1/2 "In quelle poche gocce di sangue, Orlando avvertì per la prima volta l’accettazione. Quando Alain lo guardava, non vedeva un vampiro. Alain vedeva in lui Orlando St. Clair."Più che un libro vero e proprio mi è sembrato un lungo prologo, un'introduzione alla storia vera e propria. L'idea di vampiri e maghi bianchi in coppie predestinate che lottano contro maghi neri mi è piaciuta molto così come la storia tra Alain e Orlando, un mago che ha perso la sua famiglia nella battaglia ed un vampiro disprezzato dai suoi compagni trasformato contro la sua volontà e con un passato di abusi. Sono due anime sole e perse che trovano amore e coraggio l'uno nell'altro, anche se il tutto si svolge a dir poco velocemente XD Le due note penalizzanti sono i troppi personaggi c... morehe ci vengono presentati tutti insieme, un'introduzione più graduale sarebbe stata preferibile, non ricordavo nemmeno più che era accoppiato con chi XD Inoltre la fine è decisamente mutilata, è chiaro che l'autrice aveva progettato un'unico grande libro e sembra l'abbia diviso con un colpo netto a casaccio, meno male che c'erano in anteprima qualche pagina del prossimo libro, almeno il "colpo" è stato più dolce XD Consigliato con riserva, dovrei leggere anche il secondo per farmi un'idea completa! ;)
review 2: If you like perky nipples, laving tongues, and thrusting fangs, this book may be for you. I think the author turned every interaction she could into a sexual innuendo and they were very blunt and forceful. And the sex scenes were not really creative, especially in their use of terminology.But on the other hand, there is a world that was started in this book and hopefully continues through the series that could be interesting. The vampiric and wizardly powers are a nice, original invention. And I thought Ms. Tachna did a great job of matching characters up and showing and explaining why they worked together. The relationships were developed, unlike other books I have read. The characters... maybe a bit one-dimensional at times, but the author put a lot of work into developing backstories and they could become more interesting as their personalities encounter more situations - there just wasn't much plot here.As erotica, it was 1 star for me, as fantasy, 3 stars - there are some interesting concepts, but they aren't explored enough - and as romance, 4 stars... the romance is relatively well done if you can ignore the other problems in the book. I think I found the bad erotica too jarring to continue with the series. less
