review 1: After reading this author's most recent work, I decided to go back and read her earlier novels. I just finished Covenant in Blood, and I understand some of the criticism that was rendered when it was first published. In a desire to be complete, the author has thrown every possible character at the reader -- it is so bad that there is a two page list of characters at the end of the book. Additionally, this book needed some good old-fashion editing. There are far too many side stories from very minor characters that merely add more words and pages to the length of the book, without adding any real depth to the story. But, there are two other major pet peeves that I had with this book. First, it was terribly proof read and copy edited. There are an extraordinary numb... moreer of grammar, spelling and word mistakes in this book. (For example, at one location in the book, the word that is used is "vampires" when the author is clearly talking about "wizards" -- that is just bad proof reading.). The editor should be ashamed. Second, is the author's fascination with using a thesaurus to find useless synonyms for words that are used in common parlance. Reading a romance novel should not be an exercise in the use of Roget's thesaurus. I will continue with the next book in the author's series in the hope that it is better put together than this attempt. Three very generous stars from me for this one, but I can clearly understand if one was to give this book two stars.
review 2: Ooooooh soooo fun!I LOVED all the vampire/wizard action of the war...But, this still got those fem bits~and many side stories, of which I don't care for. Since this seem the direction of the book(s) I can see that I'm going to be a skimming queen before the series comes to an end...lol..lucky for me I love the magic this book offer's...For me the many couple are still a bit much, but I would recommend this book If you like MM, MF, FF , many love stories in one book, because this book has some awesome magic this might just be for you~ I liked it, enought to continue on with the series and simply skim what I don't care to read~ less
