review 1: Book 2 starts right off where book one ends letting you recap just in case you forgot or missed anything. Now with the love of her life gone Liberty must learn to how to survive in the hard streets all by herself. With Samad still out he still has a target out for Liberty. He wants more than anything to get revenge on her for what happened in the past. While out one day and bullets start to flare she is rescued by Po and the two quickly become close friends. While both are trying to fill a missing void it leads them to become much more. While their journey leads them back to Sierra Leone, Po gets an oppurtunity he never would have expected. Now able to live the dream hes always longed for, will his new found life muster up old memories for Liberty that she just cant... more run away from? Will Po be able to remain loyal to the streets or will his feelings for Liberty over throw everything?I enjoyed Part 2 I was waiting a while to read it and I am happy I was able to continue the journey with Liberty. So much goes on in the second part with Liberty trying to grasp the act that she is alone in the world and she has to try to make a life for her so that Samad can not find her. When she runs into Po it seems like her prayers have been answered and she now has someone to fill an empty void. She found someone to fill that void in by Po. Liberty was very naive and easy to trust and it seems like after all she went through she would have no better than to trust people even if they were family. Being out on the streets for all those years should have made her second guess anyone that came in her life. As I continued to read through the book I was just shocked that Liberty was so naive at things that were right in her face. Things were happening right under her nose and it wasnt until it was close to being to late that she realized what was going on. I was shocked at Po. Getting to know his character he seemed like a stand up guy who was all about loyalty to those he loved that was around him. When Po can no longer control someone around him who is totally out for self he not only puts Liberty on the line but also himself. The only real complaint i have is that the real drama doesnt start until a particular family member surfaces and starts to stir things up I would have liked to see more from the start. Also at one point in the story they confused Trixie with Liberty. Overall I will be reading Part 3 soon to see what happens in the finale.
review 2: Oh I just loved, loved, loved this series!! The characters were real to life, and the dramatic situations were so exciting. The authors had me on the edit of my seat, wonder what was going to happen next. I couldn't stand Dahlia, and I hope Liberty gets her revenge in the end. I couldn't believe how Po just let Dahlia come in and manipulate him to the point that she was pretty much running the show. He talked about Liberty not know how to play her position, and being so naive, but he wasn't too much better. His lack of experience and bad judge, caused him to allow Dahlia to misled him down the wrong path. She pushed and lied so much til she got rid of everyone around him that truly loved and cared about him. Well I'm on to book three, because I'm curious as to how things are going to pop off. With Po moving so sloppily, I'm sure it is about to go down in the worse way! I just hope Liberty is able to pull it together and out smart them. less
