review 1: The story is about a foot-ball shaped cat, Binky, who is interested in space. The author is writing a humorous story about a football-shaped cat that her sister adopted. The cat wants to be an astronaut and practices for the life in space. It does not work out and Binky realizes that his place is with his family. The story is humorous because Spires uses the plot of the story as an analogy to the cat that her sister adopted. Space, which is foreign to man, is equivalent to an adopted cat in its new home. Because many children like animals including cats and dogs. This book is worth having the child read. There is an analogy that compares a new home for an adopted cat as outer space. It is humorous in that a cat can be interested in human concepts such as outer space. The ... morewords support the pictures. The pictures are cartoon like and provide descriptions that the words do not. In many cases, the words tell the story. This book is geared for a child aged 7 to 10. It teaches children about analogies and provides examples of literary devices such as metaphors.
review 2: Graphic NovelI loved Binky the Space Cat! I thought the entire book was hilarious especially since I love cats. I thought it was funny that Binky thought he was a space cat even though he was just an ordinary house cat (it makes me wonder if my cat has the same thoughts as Binky). I really like the part in the book were Binky was giving reasons as to why he took good care of the humans because he would greet them at the door (by actually making them trip), help around the house (get in bags), give them massages (actually claw their legs up), and sing them to sleep (by purring while they were trying to sleep). I really liked that part because it really reminded me of my cat and how annoyed I get when she does that when really she's probably thinking she is taking good care of me. I would recommend this book to people of all ages! less
