review 1: I liked the book up until I read this sentence, "The badger didn't need to bully anyone ever again."I rolled my eyes and thought...NOT LIKELY! What a tall tale! Unbelievable to think that one episode of sticking up for what's right, to simply befriend the bully, will change the behavior of a bullying badger.I'd much rather have seen the mother approach the teacher, the owl, and have the two figure this out together. That way kids know that they can talk to their teachers.AND, kids should learn that sticking up for what's right is a full time job. Not just a one-episode event.Illustrations are cute...but really dark and hard to see the details on some pages. It looks digital; maybe tweaking the contrast to lighten the artwork would have helped.
review 2: The Kis... moresing Hand was my first children's read on a kindle fire. It was not a good one because of the medium, not the story. So I was opposed to reviewing more picture books on a kindle.This book was better matched, text to illustration. Though there was still a little mismatch. I still missed reading a hard copy to my children.The illustrations were bolder and really great compared to Kissing Hand. The story takes on a difficult subject for a lot of children and lends a positive resolution based on understanding and kindness. A great read for most children, I think. My 2-year old toddler who loves to sit and look at books on her own did not stay for this story. I think it was because it was on the kindle and she could not touch and point at the screen without it moving the screen ahead or back. A little tricky and she lost interest.4 out of 5 stars; one less star because it was on a kindle. less
