review 1: Barbara Erskine just keeps getting better. I have never been disappointed by a book of hers. Most authors do slump a bit over time - things get somewhat stale and samey-samey, the plots feel recycled and the characters gel less - but NOT here! While there are general premises that remain book to book a constant, such as the 'time trapped' ghosts and the enigmatic stranger-soon-to-be-lover, BE somehow manages to make each book fresh and special in its own way. While in no way religious myself, I especially liked those elements within this story, it made it something different. No hesitation in giving it five stars, after a surreptitious wee dab of the eyes with a hanky. Good 'un!
review 2: I have read several books by Barbara Erskine, and enjoyed them all. My f... moreavourite remaining The Lady of Hay, which I would happily recommend to others, regardless of their preferred genre. While I consider Times Legacy could have been condensed in parts, more so, the modern years, this was not detrimental to me happily continuing with the book. I have enjoyed much of my recent leave from work, hurrying through my housework, and returning from trips out, anticipating how things would proceed, with all the main cast, perhaps not too charitably for Keir! In the main, ss with other books by Barbara Erskine, I felt more of an affinity with the historical characters, and felt these parts of the book flowed more freely, and produced more substance for my imagination. Overall, however a well descripted read. less
