review 1: This book will inspire you to grab your passport and start working on your bucket list! Photos of kids playing in the dirt, splashing in water and climbing trees lead to adults digging up dinosaur bones, scuba diving with dolphins and mountain climbing. Also, I have never before imagined a cave of crystals so large that men can crawl over them like I-beams. In the back of the book, captions explain each of the National Geogrpahic photos. So now I know that I need to add "spelunk the Cave of Crystals in Mexico" to the bucket list! Great for kids interested in science and nature and exploring the great big world.
review 2: Written by Barbara Kerley (2013). National Geographic. It has factual photos with 1-2 full pages. It looks at the world from dirt, to forest
... more, to ocean, to the sky and on into space. Children are shown in many of the photos. It is beautifully laid out and a feast for the eyes. A good book to look at and wonder about the photos. I think a lot of inquiry would be generated by looking at the pictures with further inquiry from the kids quesitons. I think it would be a good jumping off place to start with and go into different curriculum areas which are shown in the photos - science, social studies, reading and writing projects also. less
