review 1: The author's professional experience and his tremendous talent as a storyteller make this short story a very enjoyable read. Eisler’s rich details build up clarity rather than confuse. The dialog is crisp, actions precise. Where the minutiae of Tom Clancy's novels drag his readers through a myriad of technical issues which overshadow the plot, Eisler’s details bring the novel's environment into sharp focus. While this particular story does not have an overly involved plot (it’s a short, people!) it was no less adept at transporting me into the sticky, dusty heat of Pnom Penh.
review 2: One of my favorite series is the John Rain Series by Barry Eisler and even though I love his lead character, I always find myself fascinated with John's friend, Dox. In my
... more mind, he's a tall rangy man with a quick smile and a gravelly Texas twang in his voice, but when pushed too far, that grin becomes deadly. Did I mention that Dox is a free lance assassin? Little things. In this new short story, we find Dox getting ready for a "business meeting" in Cambodia. As usual, things get a little out hand, but it's nothing Dox can't handle. If you want a fun and fast paced read, then this is the story for you. Highly recommended for fans of Jack Reacher or Elvis & Joe! less

Great 2-hour excursion into an Eislerian world. Glad I found it by accident.

Reminded me of "The Quiet American" by Graham Greene. In a good way :)

Better than average short....at least among those I've read.

Too damned short. Bloody hell.
