review 1: I liked most of the book. I agree with other reviewer who compared the book to Princess Bride. Yes, it does possess those elements with a fantasy twist. I could have done with less of the fantasy. Not really my genre. It was challenging trying the understand some of the descriptions and decipher the language of some of the characters. I am not sure how invested I am in reading the rest of the series.
review 2: This book is unique. I loved the writing style, the unusual illustrations (There are little drawings of bees and acorns and such sprinkled through the book *love*) the tone of the book is fantastic, but not much of a plot to speak of. There doesn't seem to be much of an arc throughout the book and we are kept in the dark about much of the fairy rebell... moreion. I am so conflicted, can the great style and writing make up for lack of a solid plot? Probably not for me. I wish this book had both. less
