review 1: This unique romance is the story of Cal and Shelly. Married for six years, things go horribly awry when Cal gets so inebriated at a friend's bachelor party in Vegas that he wakes up hungover and with another woman in his room. Admitting to Shelly what happened is devastating for both of them. Can Cal's attempts to prove to Shelly that he is worth her forgiveness sway her from seeking a divorce?I loved this story! It's rare to read a romance that begins with a happily married couple that must find their way back to each other after a betrayal. Cal is a sincere and honest man who loves Shelly dearly and is as wrecked as she is over what happened in Vegas - he has no memory of whether or not he slept with this woman but he assumes it's what happened and to his credit doesn... more't try to hide it from Shelly but tells all. Shelly is a strong and confident woman, but Cal's betrayal tests her in a way she never saw coming. Giving him 8 weeks to prove that he is worth her forgiveness, she also spends that time examining herself and her own wants and needs. Cal is portrayed really well as a man who made a horrible mistake and you can't help but feel sorry for him and the situation that has resulted. At the same time, you feel for Shelly and the difficult choices she now must face. Over the course of the story you clearly see the love that they feel for each other and the sexual chemistry that exists between them. Their love scenes are emotional and heartfelt, showing that despite the circumstances their bodies and hearts are still in tune with each other. Another wonderful aspect of the story is the circle of friends that play a key role in the plot and the dynamics of the story. They are a group that has stuck together since high school, and the loss of trust between Cal and Shelly is keenly felt by their friends as well. I enjoyed the camaraderie between them, both the women and men in separate groups as well as together. Their interactions add humor to an emotional story.Overall I found this to be a heartwarming read, a wonderful tale of romance between two people trying to find their way back to each other. I am looking forward to more books in the series! 5 stars.
review 2: There is something to be said for a book that sucks you in and makes the characters you read about like family, and this is that type of book. We meet Cal on the worst day of his life, he wakes up naked, hungover, and with a naked blonde coming out of his bathroom in Vegas. He has to decide now do I keep it to myself or tell the love of my life for the last 8 years, my wife, or do I keep it to myself.Cal decides he has to tell his wife, but could not have picked a worse time to reveal what happened. Their 6th wedding anniversary dinner that she has spent time cooking and preparing for while he was away. Shelly, as expected is devastated and leaves the home to go home to her dad. They were each others firsts and lasts, or so she thought, and totally in love and happy. She decides she must ask for a divorce and move on with her life, and she eventually does do some things. Cal is not one to let it go quite that easy and asks for 8 weeks to show her he is worth giving another chance to. You will see what happens when he puts her above all else and shows her why she fell in love with him in the first place. There are still ups and downs, but Cal is ever the optimistic guy that believes he will get his 2nd chance after the 8 weeks are over. This book to me was just about as true to live as a book could get and I could so relate to everything in this book and cannot wait to read the next one, because, as I stated they are like family to me and I need to find out what is going to happen with Sasha and TJ. less
