Girl With A Camera, by Carolyn Meyer

This the historical fiction/biography of Margaret Bourke-White, one of the first female photographers in America. It tells about Margaret’s life in great detail. From the deaths and sorrows in her family, to the great joys and parties that she has. Margaret goes through life with great bravery and spirit. Especially when others tell her that she cannot do a job because she is a woman. The book ends when she is single, which is not expected in that time because woman are expected to care for the house, husband, and children. Girl With A Camera also shows when Margaret was not rich and famous. She was once quite poor. It also shows some of the pictures she took. It talks about the books she writes with her second husband. From whom she gets divorced. This book talks about the life of Margaret Bourke-White and it does not skimp out on the details.

This book is amazing. When I picked this up I thought, okay, this will just be a time killer. And then I could not put it down. That is how good it is. I mean I had never heard of Margaret Bourke-White before today. And now I want to know more. The author left off right in the middle of her life. What Happens Next? Please tell me!!!!! My one problem with this book was that it did not tell you what the people around Margaret were feeling. I only connected with Margaret, no one else. I like to connect with at least 3 characters in a book. But I could only connect with 1. All in all it was a pretty good book. Four Stars. Thanks for Reading!!! Have a Great Day!!! -annaleeliz and Buttons
