review 1: Rafe doesn't want to be identified as "GAY". He knows he is gay. He is out and proud but that is not his entire identity. He wants to have a life outside of the "GAY box" - at least that is what he tells himself when he moves to an all-boys boarding school and pretends to be heterosexual. Turns out his experiment has unintended consequences in that others who do not see life through his lenses are caught up in the collateral crossfire. An intriguing novel and readers will be glad to know that the author is planning a sequel.

The characters I loved were the vegan/hippie parents, who were a blast (but not my parents); good but I do have to say it was a bit disappointing & yet I can’t put my finger on the disappointment part; CCBC 2014 Fiction for YA recommendation; 2013 hardbarck via Madison County Public Library, Berea, 320 pgs.; 4 out of 5 stars; read Nov. 26 2014/# 68 less
