review 1: For a book that consists almost entirely of putting the pieces in place for the next big arc, this volume is surprisingly satisfying. And the reason for that is that everything is character driven. Every single character has a distinct voice and a distinct motivations. As the title suggests, the major plot movement in this volume is the early days of building a new Camelot - with no shortage of foreshadowing about just how good an idea that is considering what happened to the last one. Willingham also manages to fit in a cameo from a character we haven't seen in forever, and makes it worth the wait.Looking forward to the big conclusion!
review 2: Fables is a comic book series that follows the lives of several different fairytale characters including Snow Whit
... moree and the Big Bad Wolf. The series takes place after the characters have taken refuge in New York City, because an evil villain named the Adversary has taken over their kingdoms in their homelands.I love this series so much. After I checked the books out from the library, I started purchasing all of the volumes and adding the new issues to my pull list at my local comic book store. I am emotionally committed to these characters. I tried watching Once Upon a Time, but I found it a bit too silly. Fables is what Once Upon a Time strives to be. The series does a good job of balancing humor with darker tales. I will admit, however, that the last few arcs have been a bit dark. There are less than ten issues left at this point, and I am worried about whether my beloved characters are going to find their happily ever afters.I have loved every volume of this series except for the Fables-Jack of Fables crossover arc. I recommend this series to everyone I meet. less
