review 1: I finished this up while at my son's house this last week. I had trouble staying with this book, especially in the beginning, I suppose because it was so negative. All sorts of bad things happen, and then Peter's brother, Max, becomes a SERIOUSLY bad guy. This is a book addition to the graphic novel series, Fables. It was interesting in that it gives you a good contrast between novels and graphic novels. You can go into so much detail when it is all words as opposed to graphics which are both words and pictures with both about equally important, with maybe an edge going to the illustrations. I started to enjoy the story more, once Peter and Bo Peep started to get more of a role in the book. Max was just so solidly a baddie that in many ways he wasn't all that interesting. ... morePeter and Bo were more interesting, although I found Bo only moderately interesting. Snow White is a much more interesting character in Fables. I'm glad I read it since the person who loaned it to me hinted that it seems to come up in the final chapters of Fables.
review 2: This story ebbs off of the graphic Novel Fables series and follows Peter the Piper on the Farm. For those who have read the graphic novels, this plot is just before the war. I am a huge fan of twisted fairy tales and the idea of alternate and not always happy endings. It is a multiple perspective tale of sibling rivalry and the side-plot romance that led to Bo's (Little Bo Peep) ailments. Certain parts are disturbing, that I won't try to deny but all in all it is a solid story line. As a bonus the artwork is phenomenal as well. less
