A Dixie Hemingway Mystery
review 1: Another pretty good story. I liked this one better than the first, and I'm still envious of Dixie's life (minus all the, you know, violence and murder and crap) and especially her home.I did think she was very slow on the uptake when it came to Briana and the list. Maybe that was the point, though, that the reader knows before the heroine. I usually don't figure out the mystery in a cozy til close to the end, so it was a nice change for me (wink), to be a little ahead of the heroine. I didn't know who the killer was til the end, and that was nice, also.Briana ended up a little flat (no pun intended) and one-dimensional, even with all her 'maybe true/maybe lies' backstory and her penchant for lying. Never really got a handle on her, which again, was probably the point of th... moree character. Strangely, one of my favorite characters was the neighbor woman who found "Cecil." Funny how little things will stick out.I liked the resolution between Dixie and Guidry. Maybe it would be more heartbreaking if I'd read the first five, first, but since I have only read the one with their relationship working, I'm not emotionally attached to him.I like Michael and Paco and I love Cupcake and all the animals. The author's world-building is stellar, and the stuff about the psychoneuroimmunology (total 'sp' and I'm not going to look it up, either) is interesting and may need some further research.A good book, a nice read, a fine cozy :)
review 2: Dixie Hemingway, no relation to you-know-who, accepts a simple job of cat sitting for celebrity football player Cupcake Trillin. Who knew that Dixie would find a woman in Cupcake's house who claims to be his wife, but is not. When Dixie finds herself spun into the world of counterfeit high fashion, she knows she's way out of her comfort zone.Once again this series satisfies. Blaize Clement died, and her son finished the book. Kudos to him. This book seamlessly fits into the series. less

Very nice cozy mystery. The main character has some funny situations but is extremely likable.
