review 1: My Pet Book tells the story of a boy who doesn't like dogs, cats, or fish--instead, he loves his pet book! But when his pet book goes missing, the boy has to go on an adventure to find it. I would use this book in my classroom to get students discussing what types of books they like so that I can get an idea of student interests. After reading the book, I would ask my students to write about their own pet book, describing what the pet book is about and what kind of characteristics their pet (favorite) book would have.
review 2: This book focuses on a little boy who wants a pet but doesn't really care for all the trouble a pet requires. His mother recommends a book as a pet and immediately he thought it was a perfect idea. He had a hard time only picking one. Wh... moreen he finally found it he couldn't put it down. He loved his new pet. His pet allowed him to imagine, explore, and be a part of the story. Then all of a sudden when he came from school one day, his book was gone. His maid accidentally took it to donate it to charity. Of course they had to go find it, so she drove him to the donation store, and they looked and looked everywhere wondering where a pet book might hide. I’d like to start of by saying that the idea of this book is extremely unique, it intrigued me in picking up this book. I have never heard of a book being a “pet” but the idea is great and inspirational to children. Obviously, you can’t actually have a book as a pet but the book definitely explains that you can love and enjoy a book just as much as you might a pet. With that being said, I enjoyed reading this. With the theme, vibrant colors, creativity, and the edge to edge illustrations, this book is extremely well done. less
