review 1: I absolutely loved this book. The authors, Bodie and Brock Thoene have a writting style that is able to draw you into the time and lace they are writing about. While reading this book I was right there following Jesus, dressed in robes of the times and being in the places with these people. Now this is a fictional story based on things that happened in the Bible. It did help me to understand these stories were about real people and even if they did not happen the way they were in the book it brought the biblical stories more to life for me.
review 2: Lazarus is one of Jesus' close friends and followers so when he dies of an illness, Jesus calls him from the grave and brings him back to life. But there is so much more to the story than that. The authors spen... moret majority of the book telling about the events that took place before Lazarus contracted the disease. The novel goes into great detail about David ben Lazarus' family as well the struggles and controversies of the time period. Although this novel is fictional, it does a great job of sticking close to the biblical account of the events. It is very well written and keeps the reader interested throughout the whole book and I loved reading about the story through Lazarus' perspective. This book is appropriate for teens on up and is a great read for both men and women. If you are looking for an engaging book on a famous biblical story, I would highly recommend "When Jesus Wept"! less
