review 1: If you're looking for a book that has a fast-moving storyline, exotic locales, a tease of romance and most importantly, stuff that blows up, this is the book for you. This is a fun read! The characters are easy to love/hate and the action is so non-stop and rapid, it sometimes made be a little breathless. It's an improbable story, which is what makes it so darned much fun to read. Just don't expect to get a feel for what it would be like to travel to these exotic locations. Having been to some of these spots, none of these things have ever happened to me. Thank goodness! Looking forward to the next Tyler Locke installment for a little guilty pleasure.
review 2: Nice easy thriller book - based on the King Midas legend. Very nicely blends fact with fiction, and
... moremyth with truth. Lots of action, across Europe and the US, danger, two separate baddies, and some nice history lessons thrown in, as well as the real life and myths surrounding Midas. I hadn't known a lot of this. One thing I love about these types of thrillers - the good authors do their research, even driving at 150MPH on the autobahn to be able to describe how it feels (such sacrifices for art!), and give me a mini history lesson in myths and reality on subjects I don't know a lot about, esp. this one, since I started college as a classics scholar. Maybe he was junior year... less
