review 1: This book was riveting!!! Like his former books, Brandon Mull wove suspense, mythical creatures, danger, betrayal, and humor into his stories without breaking pace. Jason is just a normal teenager who is brought into a crazy world on the brink of destruction. There, he meets people with shady pasts, amazing powers, and unbelievable fears. Jason and his friends face obstacles at every turn, but they are able to keep up their friendships and youthful humor.
review 2: In my opinion, this book is a great book. It can be a little slow at times, but once it gets into the the start of an adventure it really heats up continuously. When the story gets into a moment of life and death, it does not miss a single detail. this book is only the first of the three.
