review 1: I just couldn't suspend my disbelief, the concept was too silly. If you set a fantasy novel in the real world you need a believable mechanism to explain why it is that nobody knows all this stuff is going on. The idea that there are dozens of people currently around the world that can levitate, make things explode and walk on water and the only thing preventing us all from knowing about this is the CIA and the media is just ridiculous. ... moreed and masterly written, fitted for young audience and the older one as well, this story caught my interest and didn't let me go until I was finished (and rushed to buy the sequel, I admit). Mystery and suspense, physiology and usual and unusual coming-of-age issues, fantasy and paranormal, conspiracy and murder - it's all there, along with the masterly presented storyline and the most fascinating premise. Highly recommended! less
