review 1: The artwork in this is amazing and I must be honest most of the three star rating is for that rather than the story, which I found a little flat and not one that I could particularly lose myself in (or even really care about). The story finds a middle of the road artist given what he believes to be a great opportunity but what in reality is a poorly run local festival, which he then tries to turn around to his advantage without much success. The artwork though is absolutely stunning and adds the life and depth to the story that would otherwise not have been there at all and to deal with characters that aren't the most loveable (or even likeable). Worth a go for the artwork alone.
review 2: This book is thoroughly amazing! A strange story full of characters a... morend vagueness and transparencies and surrealism that all together add up to a greater Realism (IMO) than one will find in most books. And as most of the characters were artists or of the art world I found it wonderful and hilarious! In addition the gorgeous, colorful and surreal art-work made this a real pleasure to read! I loved it. less
