review 1: I didn't realize until I went to write a review that this book is #3 in a series. I have no idea what I've missed. I didn't feel like I entered the scene after intermission though. The book is totally self-contained. Maybe the characters are the same in the other books, but story not continued. I can't speak to that.As stories go, it was entertaining. Enough mystery to keep me reading, but nothing that would keep me awake at night. Then there's the romantic element. I love him, love him not; love her, love her not, throughout most of the book. The ending is predictable. While I liked it all right, I'm not inclined to seek out the other books in the series.
review 2: Apparently this book is part of a series and I saw this one with my public library e
... morebooks and thought I would check it out. I loved it! I just hope I have not messed up by not reading them in order. Now, I am going to see if they have the others as I am hooked--I hope the others do not disappoint.Claire O'Toole mom disappeared about 15 years ago. Claire just can not let it be and move on..she does not believe that she probably ran off with another man---Claire thinks something sinister has happened to her and she wants to find out.One night when Claire is at her moms cabin she uncovers a file from her late husband in regards to the disappearance of her mom. Claire is convinced that his murder and her mom gone missing are somehow tied together. She wants to find out what really happen even though the rest of her family and friends just want her to leave it be. Then Clair is assaulted within minutes of finding that file. Issac, her former lover, comes to her rescue and wants to help her solve the mystery.Through out the story, Claire finds out the truth about her mother and her murder, other people that are close to her, like her sister and about the future of her relationship with Issac. Lots of suspense/action/mystery in this story. My only downfall is that the story line was just like a book, I had also just recently got done reading...the killer sort of was the same type person/story, or something like that effect. I will not hold that against this writer as I am sure it is just my luck that I read them pretty close to together. I am excited that I have just found another author that I look forward to reading more from. less
