review 1: Interesting premise. Gwen acts as Ethan's pretend wife to assuage his dying Mothers's fear that he live his life alone. But the story is far more complex. Asher has a way of suddenly grabbing you with a profound truth, and you stop to wonder, in this seemingly simple summer read, how she sneaks the very core of life into it. Good as a diversion read, but even better as you unravel her insights.
review 2: One of those "what if I had married someone else" books. Somewhat repetitious when explaining how she became a "pretend" wife, but you really do have to understand this to like the rest of the story. I liked the narrator, and because I listened to this on CD while riding the exercise bike, I didn't mind the story not moving real fast. It was easier to keep
... moretrack of the story since I was listening in small time increments. I would read another book by this author. less

A light read on the surface, but leads the reader to ask deeper questions of oneself.
