review 1: I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read! I felt the premise was a very interesting one. Love isn't just for one person and often we do not understand what motivates a person to love others until we put ourselves in their place and find out more about who those other people really are. Often we find love in the least likely places and how can we turn away from it. Family can also be found through deeper understanding and acceptance of who people are. Life is often messy and there is no black and white straight forward answer to anything that involves the human heart and spirit.A good well-written book. I will be looking for more books by Bridget Asher.
review 2: This was a really great story. I have to admit the complete reason that I picked up this book was
... more because I thought I was going to get a story that took place in the Florida Panhandle. I mean, Ms. Asher is from there. Okay, so maybe that was a silly reason but I got hooked! I don't typically choose chick lit (hate that term as much as SAHM) by authors outside of the UK (I'm a snob that way). But, once again, I was wrong! I liked reading about how complicated love can be. It isn't easy, usually hard. I liked reading about friends and what an important role they can play (must call my bff right after this). I also like how Ms. Asher arranged something in the book that I was thinking, "uh, eew".Great, great book. I definitely reading her other book. Pls. write more. less

Well this was a fun surprise--very good read with lively characters--none too perfect and none horribly flawed, fluffy stuff in many respects and some predictable plot elements, but a decent amount of depth of emotion, a bit of personal growth. Perhaps I liked it because my expectations were low (based on title/premise), but I think there was also a sincerity to the entire story and I did have trouble putting it down.

The book felt like a knock off of Tuesday's with Morrie. It had that same "people dropping by", "death is not all terrible" quality to it though it did have a cute bend to it.It was interesting at first but became extremely predictable. There are a couple of great ideas/themes - my favorites were the definition of family and remembering you have a choice when it comes to "obligations".Quick read.
