review 1: I loved the art (mostly -- the images of badgers kissing as humans do just looked weird because their moths aren't at the very front of the muzzle), and Bryan Talbot did a very nice job of weaving different historical threads together into a cohesive story. However, the political ideology struck me as especially heavy-handed, making Baron Krapaud more caricature than character. I might check out more of Talbot's work, but I'm probably not going to go out of my way to do so.
review 2: The third installment of Talbot's ongoing Grandville saga is the most James Bond like so far. There is even a Q equipping LeBrock with an exploding pipe. The villain is Toad from "The Wind in the Willows" and he has all the megalomania you could expect from one of Bond's adversaries
... more. If you like anthropomorphic animals, steampunk, and detective stories this book is a perfect Christmas gift. Rumor has it that Talbot has at least two more volumes planed so there is even more to look forward to. less
