review 1: Trese has been such a wonderful read so far. Between my breaks in studying Ecology, endlessly getting anxiety attacks about my thesis, or worrying on my girlfriend getting home safely, Tan and Baldisimo's masterpiece has left me feeling very energetic and, in most cases, alive and comforted. I don't think none can really compare to what Trese has offered in terms of gratifying the strange and nocturnal tidbits of Metro Manila in the Filipino comic book industry. Sure, we have the likes of Mars Ravelo, Pol Medina Jr. or Manix Abrera - but to really attain that gory, humorous and action-packed feels all at the same time would only (in the best of opinions) fall to both Budjette an Kajo. What makes this more exciting than the first volume is the foreshadowing of an epic saga ... morethat will (hopefully!) suffice in the next compilation.
review 2: This was much better than the first volume. The story and art was great. Minor complaint- the binding was still awful (but I understand that you can trade in your copies for newer ones with better binding- I'm just to lazy to do so.) But then, this only costs 150 pesos.If the creators ever decide to compile the entire series (it's only 13 issues anyway) into one deluxe edition (oversized? with color?!? hardbound!?) I'd definitely shell out again. less
