review 1: This was...different.The bad: The argot/slang/british-ish and some of the obscure references made the dialogues hard to wade through. The angst from both MCs over how screwed up each one was. The repetitive get-away-from-me and then I-need-you -- until I wanted to shake them both. The good: A really different take on magic and its existence in the real world in London. Pete is dragged into the magic, going from a non-believing observer to enthusiastic (well: intent) participant. Jack is seen first as an addict for no good reason; slowly we come to find he is trying to survive his magic by any means at all.The book wrapped up well, and in a way that I want to read more. I really do want to find out what happens next. :)

... moreo be a good read as I liked the characters from the start. Unfortunately as I read more of the book it became apparent that it was written by someone with absolutely no idea how to create characters who are British. She throws in curse words left right and centre in completely the wrong context, throws in colloquialisms where they make no sense and aren't necessary and mixes them in with American words that neither of these characters would ever use. Sorry Caitlin but after this I won't be continuing with your series. less

Well, I mean, Jim Butcher endorsed this book, so my expectations were automatically lowered.

Not bad. Interesting concept. Found the cover to be odd.

Fast, gritty, dark. A promising start to a series.

Different from the usual urban paranormal story.
