review 1: unlike the first book, this one actively annoyed me. aoife appears almost manic depressive in her irrational mood swings, which i find insulting as a former teenager. fascinating world with lots of potential - why does the main character have to be guilt-ridden with a messiah complex? and despite being aware of horrible gaps in her knowledge, aoife ping pongs her way through a variety of circumstances without taking advantage of the breaks to think rather than react. also, she is still surrounded by predominantly male characters who are either extremely passive or overtly bullying, which is very unrealistic. truly don't understand how this is a positive role model for females. if aoife is developing into a stronger character, she's taking her sweet time about it. i may rea... mored the next book, but i'll need lots of chocolate to soothe me if i do. think i need some now, in fact.....
review 2: This is the first book EVER that I could not finish! I struggled with the first book in the series I didn't develop any feelings for Aiofe and remember rolling my eyes at the end of the book. The second one is just horrible. I'm have way through and I just can't bring myself to pick it up to read anymore. It is so unemotional and slow moving. I have skipped paragraphs of pointless words trying to make it go faster and it's not going anywhere. The first book was like this as well. I just can't waste anymore of my time. I'd rather read Twilight for the 7th time. less
