review 1: This series started out well, and then became the story of a girl easily manipulated for and by people and beings she doesn't understand, and ultimately becomes about her obsessive pursuit of a boy she hardly knows. I was pleased by the first book more, in which she actually used her brains and engineering training, but even then it was a because of blackmail. I kept waiting for her to learn from her mistakes, but all she did was make larger ones. Sigh.
review 2: The Mirrored Shard could, and should've been an incredible book...but for whatever reason it didn't quiet get there. 90% of the book is great, Aofie's desperation to get Dean back and the deadly choices she has to make to do it were exciting and I truly felt her pain. I love Dean so was thrilled to lea
... morern of his ultimate outcome too. The areas where it fell short were in the last 10% of this book. I was a little shocked at how thin the book was, I was expecting a 400-500 book, similar to the first two...so 300 was a bit of a surprise. Archie's unexplained and ultimately very quick recovering illness I felt was unneeded and the end just felt lacklustre, I felt an additional 100 pages would've made the book really shine, it was good, but it deserved better. less

Amazing concept! Aoife annoyed me. The ending was waayyyy to much of a cliffhanger.

Good ending...but me thinks there will be another book.

Still not everything I'd hoped from the first book.
