review 1: A multi-layered story about how the past affects the present. Ebba and her husband Tobias have lost a son and can’t talk about it. They begin renovations to a house on an island where Ebba was found abandoned as a 1 year old. Shortly after beginning the renovations, the house they are renovating is targeted by an arson attack and then somebody shoots at Ebba. Patrik Hedstrom leads the investigations into these attacks and with his team, looks at the old case of the disappearances on the island before. His wife, Erica Falck, also aids the investigation as she has been researching Ebba’s family history for a book she is writing. This is a very well written story.
review 2: Babies and murder.... both are in abundance in this small Swedish village. I am a real
... more fan of this series and even have gone as far as ordering the books from Great Britain before they are available in the States. That being said, I am afraid that I miss some of the earlier books where the focus was on the murder mystery, not the hoards of babies that seem to coming out of the woodwork in these later novels. I know that this is real life, but I would just like Erica to be able to write and do her research without having to tote along the kids or put up with her complaining mother-in-law. The last 20% of the book was very good and, as always, I will be awaiting the next book. less
