review 1: Buried Angels by Camilla Lackberg is simply the best thriller I have read in I don't know how long. OK, yes, I am an unadulterated fan of Scandanavian noir but this is a five star plus on every level. The plot leaves you gasping at every unexpected turn, and there's plenty of emotion too as Lackberg's familiar characters in Detective Patrik Hedstrom and his author and very inquisitive wife Erica Falc initially blunder their way through a messy mystery in Sweden's seemingly peaceful Fjallbacka. Years before a unsolved mystery was created when a family went disappeared from their dinner table at a youth camp on the island of Valo. Now the child who was left behind when the family disappeared, is back, and in the process of renovating the house that her family once occupied. ... moreThere's also the faction of a far right political group seem to have a connection as their leader was part of the youth group who discovered the missing family scenario. All in all a credible thriller that's progressing headlong to an horrific ending.
review 2: I wasn't a bad story, but... Somehow I felt it was told in rush, without much needed insight. It really wouldn't hurt if the book was longer, giving more in depth description of surroundings and human motivations. There is beautiful deserted island, eerie house, broken lives and complex personalities - in short a good recipe for decent mystery. I can't help but feel that Lackberg only scratched the surface of this story... less

Siempre es un placer adentrarse en el universo Lackberg y esta vez no lo ha sido menos.
