review 1: Quite interesting story at first but there was a great deal of things that annoyed me.For instance, clues that are not explained when they should just to keep you wondering. Some parts were also unrealistic-important evidence found long after the investigation while the most crucial information mentioned after the murder was conveniently forgotten. I found the ending disappointing and farfetched, even for this genre.
review 2: I can't remember how I came across this--have a vague memory of seeing that someone else was reading it, but no one comes up attached to it on here. Was it Word's Book Club? A Housing Works thing? I don't know. Anyway, it would be hard to argue that this is a good book. The writing style is just . . . weird. People are always looking at o
... morether people "with an inquisitive expression." Loads of passive voice. The plot has a mysterious jump-skip three-quarters of the way through that I assume is some editor's problem, and the luck with which the investigators discover the solution to the major crime and other connected gruesome activities is nothing short of implausible. And yet . . . I liked this. I will read her next in the series. There's just something excellent to me about the experience of reading plot-driven crime fiction with no apparent aspirations toward literariness. less

Tried this because I liked the TV series. It was fine but I was slightly underwhelmed.

So superficially developed and boring, even stupid at certain points.
