review 1: A quick little glimpse into Leon's days after the end of Birthmarked. I thought it made for a great short story and loved getting a different perspective into this story. However, all of Leon's emotions are quite transparent in Birthmarked, so while it was interesting to find out what happened to him after making a sacrifice for Gaia, it didn't shock or surprise me. I think it would have added an extra layer of awesome from someone else's perspective - say his mother or sister - and get them to reveal some of their thoughts about how the Enclave is run and opinions on Gaia and Leon's recent actions. But overall it was a nice dip into the world apart from Gaia's own knowledge and observations.
review 2: The super short story between Birthmarked and Prized, I imm
... moreediately picked this up after finishing Birthmarked. It’s definitely a read in order kind of thing because it picks up with Leon after the ending of Birthmarked. I was intrigued with reading from Leon’s perspective for a little bit, I kind of liked it. I hope there will be more of it. But really this just fuels the fire because now I can’t wait to start Prized. There seems to be a lot of putting off work in my future. less

This would be better if I had read it between the books instead of after I finished the series.

Good link between the two books, though I'm not sure why the author found it necessary.
