review 1: Definitivo, se ganó las cinco estrellas... al principio no me había atrapado del todo y estaba dudando si iba a gustarme, pero de un momento a otro empecé a encariñarme con los personajes y la historia... por lo que ahora no puedo dejar de llorar, ese final pudo conmigo, es de esos libros que te hacen querer volver a empezarlo en el momento en que lo terminas... es hermooooso!!! :3... SPOILER!!! de verdad creí que todo iba a terminar bien, okay, a Sheere la había mordido un Áspid, pero creí que iba a llegar a tiempo al hospital no que se fuera a morir, mucho menos que ellos se fuesen a separar así y que nunca se volvieran a ver D: tampoco esperaba que Ben y la abuela nunca superaran la muerte de ella... NO PUEDO DEJAR DE LLORAAAR!!! SHEERE!!! BEEEN!!!... more! D':
review 2: Going by the Shadow of the Wind, I was expecting more from this book. I was initially fascinated by the setting of this tale in the Raj-era Calcutta. The story starts well. Till halfway through the book. I really did enjoy the story...the dark, Gothic style narrative blended into the Indian background. But then the story kind of veers off the track into the realms of the supernatural. Even that would have been fine, but the author just doesn't seem able to handle the supernatural element with much finesse... the story gets clumsier by the page, the ending predictable, and a lot of wtf's along the way...Since the book is classified as young adult fiction, I am probably the wrong age group. But I would think young adults are equally discerning if not more about a well written story.. So, two stars for an enjoyable first half, but that's about it. less
