review 1: I was reading this one to my daughter last night and I'll have to admit, I kept interjecting counterpoints about how well technology and books can happily combine to enhance the library. The author got there eventually, but I still feel it was a little heavy handed towards the "traditional books are the absolute best way to experience a library and any other way is not valid" argument. But maybe I'm reading too much into the whole thing. After all...it is a childrens' picture book!
review 2: A good readaloud, but this book makes me profoundly sad, as the decision to turn book-centered libraries into technology-centered media/computer labs is an all-too-often-true story in our library world these days. As a Librarian (who sometimes tranforms into a Library Drag... moreon), I am already doing battle against such visions of "libraries" and against what little book monies our libraries have had be directed to endless technology purchases. less
