review 1: Honestly, the Mallory mysteries used to be favourites of mine. This one felt very perfunctory. All of the recurring characters felt like placeholders--the poker night guys blended together in a haze of "which one is this again?"--and Mallory felt like a cartoon. She's always been an implausible person, but she used to be an implausible person I'd root for nevertheless. Now she just seems like a schtick. These characters either need to move forward or be concluded.
review 2: What can I say? It had been awhile since my last Mallory book, and boy did I miss her!I think this series is one of the best out there. The characters are so well developed, and the story is always very intricate and detailed.It is good to continue peeling back the layers to lear... moren more about Mallory. The Coco character introduced in this book was so engaging, and you hoped that things would turn out of for her.This is one series that I savor and can only hope that they continue for many more years. less
