review 1: Eleanor Trewynn, a widow living in a small fishing village in 1960’s Cornwall, finds a body in the stockroom of the charity shop for which she collects donations. Her niece Megan, who has overcome the odds against women and become a Detective Sergeant, is on the investigating police team. The story is pleasant enough with its appealing Cornish setting and Megan is an engaging character. Unfortunately the plot is clunky and depends on supposedly intelligent characters being really stupid.
